Former Oklahoma State, NFL Star R. W. McQuarters Shot
Former Booker T. Washington, Oklahoma State and National Football League star R. W. McQuarters is recovering after being shot as he left a friend's home late Friday night.
McQuarters was struck once in the back as he began to drive away from the home in north Tulsa. The suspect was described only as a man wearing a ski mask.
Officials tell NewsChannel 8 McQuarters drove himself to the hospital. His condition is not known.
McQuarters was a standout football and basketball player at Booker T. Washington and went to Oklahoma State, playing both football and basketball there.
But, it was on the gridiron where he excelled. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft and also played with the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and New York Giants, earning a Super Bowl ring in 2007 with the Giants.
He finished his NFL career with 14 interceptions and 371 tackles.
