
Tulsa used a seven-run fourth inning to end its first round Conference-USA softball tournament opener after five innings, defeating Marshall 10-0 Thursday in Greenville, North Carolina.
The Golden Hurricane (42-12) took the lead in the third on Samantha Cobb's two-run double. Lacey Middlebrooks followed with an RBI ground out to make it 3-0.
In the fourth, Tulsa had five hits, the biggest coming on Shelby Blanton's two-out, two-run double that made it 10-0.
On the mound, Aimee Creger improved to 23-and-2 with a two-hit shutout, striking out nine of the 18 batters she faced.
Tulsa advances to the semifinals, where they will meet the sixth seed Central Florida, which pulled off a 2-1 upset over Alabama-Birmingham.
The championship game is scheduled for noon on Saturday.
