Little Rock, AR -
Tim Wheeler continues to knock the cover off the ball, going 4-for-5 from his leadoff position as Tulsa defeated Arkansas 9-to-1 Friday in Little Rock.
The Drillers scored in each of the first five innings, including a three-run fifth inning that gave Tulsa an 8-0 lead.
The Travelers finally broke through against Christian Friedrich in the sixth on a solo home run by Angel Castillo. But, Arkansas had just four other hits -- all singles -- as Friedrich improved to 3-and-2 tossing seven innings while striking out seven and walking none.
Wheeler is batting .462 over his last ten games, seven of which he's had two or more hits. He's seventh in the Texas League in average (.326), tied for third in home runs (10) and second in runs batted in (32).
Scott Beerer had a pair of solo home runs and went 2-for-4 and Thomas Field was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in for the Drillers, who remain three games ahead of Northwest Arkansas in the Texas League North.
The Drillers and Travelers continue their series Saturday at 7:10 p.m. in Little Rock.
