The University of Tulsa men's tennis team has advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships, taking down Oklahoma and Texas.

The Golden Hurricane, ranked 36th in the latest polls, upset the regional host and 20th-ranked Sooners 4-2 Friday, then knocked off 14th-ranked Texas 4-3 in the second round Saturday.

Now, TU turns its attention to fourth-ranked Ohio State, a team they will take on Thursday at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, California.

"Words don't describe it," says head coach Vince Westbrook. "I'm very proud of this team. This team has fought hard all year. It's a young team and we've developed and we came together as a group at the end of the year and you can see it. I mean, we lost to both of these teams earlier in the year and you can see the improvement. They're a more cohesive group and I'm very proud of how they competed."

Tulsa enters the Sweet 16 with a 21-and-7 record. It's the Golden Hurricane's first Sweet 16 appearance in school history.
