Tulsa -
For the second straight day the Tulsa Drillers won in walk-off fashion as Thomas Field blasted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 win over Northwest Arkansas Wednesday afternoon at ONEOK Field.
The Drillers trailed 3-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth before a two-out rally. With Scott Beerer at second, Lars Davis slapped a single to left to move Beerer to third.
With Field batting, Beerer would score on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 3-2, but that would be the least of reliever Patrick Keating's worries.
Keating got ahead in the count, but Field fought back, fouling off a pitch before taking the 2-2 pitch over the left field wall to make the Drillers a winner.
The homer made an instant winner of reliever Josh Sullivan, who was on the hook after allowing the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
The win moves Tulsa a game and a half in front of Northwest Arkansas in the Texas League North Division. The Drillers and Naturals will complete their four-game series Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. at ONEOK Field.
