Heavy Rains Drench Craig County

Strong to severe thunderstorms have dumped nearly eight inches of rain over parts of Craig County this morning.

The Vinita Mesonet reporting station has recorded 7-point-65 inches of rainfall since midnight. The entire county is under a flash flood warning through 7:30 p.m. tonight.

State Highway 25 east and west out of Bluejacket is closed because of flooding while State Highway 66 at White Oak and State Highway 2 north from Vinita to State Highway 10 have water covering the roadway, but are not closed at this time.

An additional two to three inches of rain is possible for the area through tonight as more storms are forecast.

With today's rainfall, Vinita has now seen 13 inches of precipitation over the past 30 days.
