Midwest City running back James Flanders is following in his older brother's footsteps as the three-star prospect gave the University of Tulsa his verbal commitment, according to Rivals.com.
Flanders, who was the second-leading rusher in Class 6A with 1,672 yards and 22 touchdowns, is the brother of TU cornerback John Flanders, who is entering his senior season with the Golden Hurricane.
Another Flanders, Tim, gave his verbal commitment to TU in 2009 before later changing his mind and signing with Kansas State. He later transferred to Sam Houston State, where he is a sophomore running back.
James Flanders is Tulsa's fifth verbal commitment for 2012. The others are Lawton Mac kicker Daniel Schwarz and his teammate, defensive back Michael Thomas, Holton (KS) defensive back Rob Riderer and Mesquite (TX) linebacker Craig Suits.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. The first day players can sign letters of intent is February 2, 2012.
