The Tulsa Drillers used timely hitting in the fifth and seventh innings to defeat the Springfield Cardinals 6-3 on Sunday night.
Tulsa was up 2-0 in the top of the fifth, when they added two more runs on a Darren Holcomb RBI double and a Scott Beerer RBI Single.
Those runs would come in handy, as Springfield responded in the bottom of the fifth with a run of its own, followed by two more in the bottom of the sixth.
With a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning, the Drillers put the game away when James Cesario doubled to center field, scoring two Tulsa runs.
Christian Friedrich (6-5) picked up the win, lasting six innings while striking out seven Cardinals batters.
Tulsa plays one more in Springfield Monday afternoon at 12:07, before getting a day off for the Texas League All-Star Game, which is on Wednesday in San Antonio.
