Cambage To Return Back to Australia

Posted: Updated:

The Tulsa Shock's Elizabeth Cambage says after the WNBA season is over, she'll be returning to Melbourne, Australia to play for the Bulleen Boomers of the WNBL.  She made the announcement on Twitter early Monday night.

Elizabeth Cambage, "after the WNBA I will be returning home to play in the @WNBL with the Melbourne bulleen boomers home sweet home"

The WNBL released a story on their web site saying the Cambage has resigned with the Bulleen Boomers, the club she helped led to a WNBL Championship.  It was the Boomers first title in franchise history.

In the same article, Basketball Australia CEO Larry Sengstock was quoted as saying, "It is an exciting day for both the Bulleen Boomers and the WNBL. Cambage is a massive signing and it is a reflection on the quality of competition in the league that she feels re-signing with Bulleen is best for her development.  In the last six months Cambage has elevated her game to star status and having her back on court in the WNBL provides a great opportunity for the young basketball fans around the country to see one of the best young players in the world, week in week out on their doorstep."

In her rookie season with the Tulsa Shock, Cambage is averaging 15.2 points per game.  That ranked 19th in the WNBA.  The Shock are currently 1-8 on the year.

Cambage and the Tulsa Shock look for their second win of the season Thursday night in Tulsa against Minnesota at the BOK Center.
