The Tulsa Public School system has a new virtual learning program, using the Internet. Some students may never have to step into a traditional classroom again.

Newschannel 8's Kim Jackson says organizers expect enrollment to grow this year.

This virtual school is going into it's second year. But there is not much information. In fact there is not even a website-about a program that allows students to do almost all their work, at home.

We met one student, who told us, online learning was better for his quiet personality.

And so far this year, about 170-students have enrolled to take their classes--with virtual teachers, from a monitor.

Organizers expect to double enrollment this year.

"I don't' think there is any way of getting around it because what will work with one student may be fine, but there five or six students out of a hundred that may need a different setting," said Geoffrey Wilbur, who oversees the Tulsa Learning Academy.

That will mean, traditional classrooms may lose some students, after a year of consolidation and changes.

And this program will have some changes as well--after some seniors failed to complete the program and graduate.

Now students won't be so independent--thanks to local real life teachers, waiting to help.

"Where teachers here will contact those students on a weekly basis, check in with them see how they are doing, monitor their progress,  monitor attendance and have more contact with them," said Wilbur.

The Tulsa Learning Academy will offer tutoring for the online students, at it's storefront location in the promenade mall.

And there's another possible change for the youngest students, 6th graders who decide to come here.

"When that sixth grader actually enrolls the parents says we will be an educational coach we will be home when they are online," he explained.

There are no enrollment deadlines to meet. But teachers say its a program that requires independence.and discipline.

6 out The website should be up and running by the end of the week. But even then you will have to print off an application and bring it in.

There are some things they want to do in person
