Blackwell Police Say Man Died From Extreme Heat

Posted: Updated:

Sgt. John Mitchell of the Blackwell Police Department says a man died as a result of the extreme heat.

Officers received a call Monday just after 5 p.m. of an unconscious man in Legion Park.

EMS arrived to find Marcelino Calderon-Mora, 69, breathing but unresponsive.

Doctors treated Calderon-Mora for a heat stroke, but he died a few hours later.

Blackwell EMS reported his core body temperature was 108 degrees, but their equipment only reaches to 108, meaning his core temperature could have been higher.

A lawn mower was found with him, but it is unknown whether he was mowing at the time.

Calderon-Mora was best known for the odd jobs he often did for people of the Blackwell community.
