Drillers Get Two Players In Jimenez Deal

Posted: Updated:

In a deal that sent former Tulsa Drillers pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez from Colorado to Cleveland, the Drillers picked up a pair of players through a trade with Cleveland's Double-A affiliate.

Jimenez was sent to the Indians in return for pitcher Alex White. The Akron Aeros then sent pitcher Joseph Gardner and utility man Matt McBride to Tulsa.

Gardner was 7-and-8 in 19 starts in Akron this season. He had a 4.99 earned run average. In his last outing last week against Trenton, Gardner took the loss, allowing five runs on ten hits in five and a third innings in a 5-1 setback.

McBride led the Aeros with a .297 batting average, 14 home runs and 53 runs batted in. In Akron, McBride played catcher, first base and outfield.

Tulsa won 2-0 Sunday at Arkansas to stay one game behind division leading Northwest Arkansas.

The Drillers and Arkansas wrap up their series Monday night at 7:10 before Tulsa returns home for a big series against Northwest Arkansas beginning Tuesday.
