Former TU Coach Kragthorpe Diagnosed With Parkinson's Disease

Baton Rouge, LA -

Former University of Tulsa head football coach Steve Kragthorpe has relinquished his duties as offensive coordinator at LSU after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Kragthorpe, who coached at TU from 2003 to 2006, was hired during the offseason. Officials say Kragthorpe plans to remain on the LSU staff and remain quarterbacks coach.

While at TU, Kragthorpe took over a Tulsa team that won just two games in the previous two seasons and took them to an 8-and-5 finish and a Humanitarian Bowl appearance in his first season. Tulsa would be 29-and-22 in four seasons, making three bowl appearances under Kragthorpe.

He left Tulsa in 2007 to become head coach at Louisville and had also made a coaching stop at Texas A&M. He was thought to have been a candidate to replace Todd Graham at TU before taking the job at LSU.

A news conference is planned for Thursday in Baton Rouge, LA.
