Damaris Johnson (3) returns a punt for a touchdown against Notre Dame.Oklahoma State sophomore Joseph Randle and Tulsa senior Damaris Johnson are two of 50 names on this year's Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List, announced Monday.
Randle is Oklahoma State's leading returning rusher, going for 452 yards and two touchdowns last season as a true freshman. He averaged 5.5 yards per carry. He was also fourth on the team with 37 receptions for 427 yards and a score.
He was also second on the team in kick returns, averaging 25.6 yards per return.
Big things are expected this season out of the Wichita, Kansas native as the Cowboys begin their first season without Kendall Hunter in the backfield.
At Tulsa, big things are expected and have already been seen by Johnson, who is the NCAA's all-time record holder for all-purpose yardage with 7, 796 and career kickoff return yards (3,417).
Johnson led Tulsa in receptions (57) and yards (872) with four touchdowns last season and also rushed for 560 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Hornung Award is given every year to the most versatile player in college football. The winner will be honored at a banquet in January.
