Early morning storms knock out power to thousands

Posted: Updated:

Electric crews continue the task of turning the lights back on for thousands of area resident affected by last nights storms.

At the height of last nights storm, more than 25,000 electric customers were without power.

A large majority of those right here in Tulsa.

My late morning crews from OG&E, PSO and Ozark Electric have managed to cut that number nearly in half.

At 11am, a check of the PSO outage page showed just over 9000 customers still without power. Tulsa County accounted for nearly 6,700 of the 9000 out.

At the same time OG&E showed outages in Muskogee, Poteau, Jenks, Sapulpa, Glenpool, Keifer, Bristow, Slick, Beggs and Depew.  The largest outage for OG&E was in Poteau where 4,700 customers are without power.

Currently 2,500 Ozarks Electric members scattered throughout eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.
