Bill Blankenship and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane had lucky practice #13 Tuesday at Harwell Field.
Then it was off to the stadium for a 66 play scrimmage.
Coach Blankenship says he likes the way the offense looked today and throughout camp. Here's some quotes provided by the University of Tulsa.
"We wanted to get out on the grass for the first half of practice and get some work done, and then we came over to Chapman Stadium and did our 7-on-7 drill and wanted to have one more pretty healthy scrimmage," said Tulsa Head Coach Bill Blankenship. "We're going to split up and begin game preparation after the scrimmage evaluation, so we wanted to get a good look of the guys still competing for starting spots and backup spots. That was the purpose and we think we got a good look at those guys today."
"We were looking for who would bounce back and have a good scrimmage today. Our number one's got about 15 plays of full-scrimmage. If a player is in competition for a job they got a lot more plays than that, but the guys we're comfortable with –– like the G.J.'s, Damaris', Curnelius' and Tyrunn Walker type guys –– didn't get quite as much work. We were able to get a good evaluation today," said Blankenship.
"I thought the day went to the offense. It was a more physical day. We did a lot more running the ball. The defense was a little bend. Fortunately, they didn't give up a lot of deep touchdowns, but they gave up way too many yards," said Blankenship.
