Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud To Resign

Posted: Updated:
Oklahoma City -

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin is looking for a successor in the Oklahoma Corporation Commission with the announcement Thursday that Jeff Cloud plans to resign.

Cloud -- who is Vice Chairman of the three-member panel that regulates public utilities, railroads and the oil and gas industry -- says he's resigning to pursue opportunities in the private sector.

He's held the post for nine years and his current term is scheduled to end in 2014. Cloud did not provide a date that his resignation would take effect.

Cloud says he plans to work with the governor to name a successor.

He ran for a vacant congressional seat last year, but withdrew from the race for Congress over health concerns.
