Tulsa Drillers End Season With A Win

Posted: Updated:

The Tulsa Drillers ended its 2011 season in style Monday, defeating Northwest Arkansas 4-2.

Tulsa used a combined effort from pitchers Drew Pomeranz (3IP, 0H, 3K) and Rob Scahill (6P, 6H, 2ER) to keep the Naturals scoreless until the top of the ninth inning.

Pomeranz was making his first appearance since undergoing an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago.  Because of that, he was limited to just 46 pitches.

The Drillers were lead offensively by DH Mike Zuanich, who enjoyed a perfect day for Tulsa.  Zuanich finished the day 3-3 with two runs scored.

Tim Wheeler added one hit, but did not add to his franchise record 33 home runs.  He ends the season as the Drillers all-time home run leader as well as the Texas League leader for 2011.

Monday's game was watched by 6,152 fans - bringing the season home attendance total to 366,291.  That's the second highest total in the history of Tulsa professional baseball.
