Bob Stoops Sooners didn't look like the top-ranked team in the country Saturday night in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks. But they hand the KU a 30 point loss, 47-17.
The highlight of the night was OU receiver Ryan Boyle. He become the NCAA's all-time leader in receptions. He needed just four catches to break the record and he caught 13 against the Jayhawks. The record break was a 57 yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. With tonight 13 catches, the new record sits a 326. He had 215 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
OU quarterback Landry Jones was 29-of-48 for 361 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. His first TD pass went to Kenny Stills in the first quarter. Stills had 8 catches for 74 yards.
Broken plays helped keep Kansas in the game in the first half. James Sims scored on a 56 yard run in the first and Kansas trailed by just three. The game was tied at 10 in the second quarter. Oklahoma would outscore KU 37-7 the rest of the way.
Dominique Whaley had 165 yards on 30 carries. He ran for one touchdown. Roy Finch also saw the end zone. He rushed for 58 yards on six carries.
The Sooners rack up 608 yards of total offense. The OU defense held Kansas to just 252 total yards.
The Sooners return home next week for a 7:00 p.m. match with Texas Tech. That game can be seen on Tulsa's Channel 8.
