NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops wants his third-ranked Sooners to do much better on offense once they get inside the red zone.
Oklahoma is sixth in the nation with 45.3 points per game, but scores touchdowns on only 56 percent of its possessions inside the opponents' 20-yard line this season. On Saturday, red zone failures allowed Kansas to stick around until the Sooners finally delivered the knockout punch with 17 fourth-quarter points.
Stoops says the Sooners (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) are running some of the same plays as they did in 2008, when they converted 85 percent of their red zone possessions into touchdowns. The execution hasn't been there this season.
Oklahoma hosts Texas Tech (4-2, 1-2) on Saturday night.
