The Texas Tech Red Raiders shock the 3rd-ranked Sooners Saturday in Norman, 41-38. The loss snaps Oklahoma's 39-game home winning streak. It's the first loss at Owen Field for the Sooners since TCU handed OU a 17-10 loss on September 3, 2005.
Tech quarterback Seth Doege torched Oklahoma for 441-yards and four touchdowns. He had three to Alex Torres.
Sooner quarterback Landry Jones started out good, but several dropped balls on third downs stopped Oklahoma drives. Jones threw for five touchdowns on 30-of-55 passing for 412-yards.
Roy Finch rushed for 93-yards on 13 carries. He played in place of a sick Dominique Whaley.
The Sooners trailed 24-7 at the half, but chipped away after the break and had a chance to win.
Kicker Michael Hunnicutt hit the right upright on a field goal attempt late in the fourth that would have pulled the Sooners within seven. They scored a touchdown on the next drive to pull within three. OU didn't recover the onsides kick and Texas Tech held on to win.
Oklahoma (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) will try to regroup as they head to Manhattan, KS next Saturday to face Kansas State. Kickoff is set for 2:30pm.
