It's going to be a tough road down the stretch for the Oklahoma Sooners. Last week, they lost leading rusher Dominique Whaley to a broken ankle. Saturday, they learned top receiver Ryan Broyles will also be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Broyles suffered an ACL tear in his left knee midway through the third quarter of OU's 41-25 victory against Texas A&M after making a long reception. He immediately began grabbing his left knee and had to be helped to the sideline.
Once on the sideline, doctors appeared to be conducting tests on the knee and after one of them whispered into Broyles' ear, the senior from Norman began to cry.
Following the game, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops announced Broyles had played his last game for the Sooners.
Broyles turned down a chance to be a potential second round NFL pick and returned for his senior season, breaking the school's all-time record for receptions, yards and touchdowns and breaking the NCAA's all-time receptions mark.
This season, Broyles has 83 catches for 1,157 yards and ten touchdowns.
The Sooners are now 8-and-1 and will play at Baylor next Saturday.
