Cowboys Have Another Running Back Quandary

Posted: Updated:
Arlington, TX -

When the Dallas Cowboys shipped Marion Barber to Seattle last year, it cleared the way for Felix Jones to become the "featured back", but with his injury and the emergence of DeMarco Murray, the Cowboys will soon be having to make a decision.

Murray rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown Sunday as the Cowboys dismantled the Buffalo Bills, 44-7 in Arlington. The rookie from OU has rushed for 100 yards in three of the past four games, including setting a new franchise record with 253 in his first start against St. Louis on October 23rd.

His chance came after Jones -- a standout at Tulsa's Booker T. Washington High School -- suffered a high-ankle sprain that has kept him out of the past four games.

Murray's performance has even led to a headline by online sports publication Bleacher Report Sunday afternoon that reads "Felix Jones Should Never Play For The Dallas Cowboys Again".

It seems the Cowboys have always had the "good" problem of too many backs in the backfield since the departure of the NFL's all-time leading rusher in Emmitt Smith. Let's not forget, it was an injury to Julius Jones in 2005 that allowed Marion Barber to emerge and Tashard Choice, who was second on the depth chart when this season began, was waived last month.

What do you think? When Felix Jones is healthy again, should he be back in the starting lineup, or has DeMarco Murray played his way into the starter's role?
