Idlet Nabs First CUSA Basketball Honor

TU center Steven Idlet has been named the first Conference USA Player of the Week for the 2011 season after helping lead the Golden Hurricane to a 2-and-0 start.

Idlet averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as Tulsa defeated Arkansas-Little Rock and Southeastern Louisiana, each by double digits.

The 6'11" senior from Prairie Grove, Arkansas, shot 11-of-15 from the floor and hit on seven of his 11 free throw attempts. He also had a pair of assists and two blocks in the contests.

Against Southeastern Louisiana, Idlet established a new career high with 23 points and also hit his first career 3-pointer.

Tulsa begins play in the Charleston Classic Thursday against Western Kentucky in Charleston, South Carolina. The Golden Hurricane also play Friday against either LSU or Northwestern and could play in the championship on Sunday if they are victorious.
