
Playing at the famed Madison Square Garden, Oklahoma State suffered through a second half slump in an 82-67 loss to Stanford Wednesday night in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York City.
The Cowboys led 23-22 in the first half and it was tied at 29-29 before the Cardinal (5-0) went on a 17-6 run to end the half. The spurt continued in the second half as Stanford scored the first ten points to push the advantage to 56-35 on a 3-pointer by Andrew Zimmermann.
The lead would grow to 28 points before the Cowboys (3-1) cut into the deficit in garbage time.
Stanford's Josh Owens led all scorers with 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting. Chasson Randle added 17 and Aaron Bright had 15.
Le'Bryan Nash led Oklahoma State with 16. Markel Brown scored 11.
Oklahoma State will next play Friday at 1:30 p.m. against Virginia Tech in the consolation game. The Hokies suffered a 69-58 loss to fifth-ranked Syracuse.
