STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Close doesn't cut it anymore for No. 3 Oklahoma State.
After being overmatched by Oklahoma in most of the first 105 meetings in the Bedlam rivalry, the Cowboys (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) finally feel like they're on even footing heading into Saturday night's game.
It will be the third straight year Oklahoma State carries a higher ranking into the game than the 13th-ranked Sooners (9-2, 6-2). That hasn't translated into victory the past two seasons, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of some Cowboys.
Some players are wearing black wristbands that serve as a reminder of their missed opportunity to win last season. Instead of getting a late stop, Oklahoma State gave up Landry Jones' 76-yard touchdown pass to James Hanna that put Oklahoma's 47-41 victory away.
