Gundy A Finalist For Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is one of ten finalists for the 2011 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year.

Gundy led the Cowboys to the team's first outright Big 12 championship and first BCS bowl game appearance with a 44-10 rout of arch rival Oklahoma Saturday in Stillwater.

The third-ranked Cowboys are 11-and-1 and will play No. 4 Stanford January 2nd in the Fiesta Bowl.

Gundy is also a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award and was recently named the American Football Coaches Association's Regional Coach of the Year for FBS Region Four.

For the Liberty Mutual Award, Gundy is joined by Kansas State's Bill Snyder, Michigan's Brady Hoke, Arkansas' Bobby Petrino, Louisiana-Lafayette's Mark Hudspeth, Georgia's Mark Richt, Alabama's Nick Saban, Virginia's Mike London, Clemson's Dabo Swinney and LSU's Les Miles.

Fans can vote for Gundy through December 22nd by logging on to www.coachoftheyear.com. Fan votes will count as 20-percent of the total vote. An additional 55-percent of the vote will come from the College Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and the final 25-percent will come from national media votes.

The winner will be announced in advance of the BCS National Championship game on January ninth.
