A California high school football player says he'll play football at OU.
Derrick Woods, a four-star prospect from Inglewood (CA) High School gave Oklahoma his verbal commitment Tuesday according to SoonersIllustrated.com.
The 5'11", 180-pound safety is the 21st-ranked safety prospect in the country. He made his official visit to Norman on November 26th when the Sooners defeated Iowa State, 26-6.
Woods also has offers from 14 other schools, including Alabama, Florida, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and USC.
Woods also played offense for the Sentinels. As a junior, he caught 24 passes for 351 yards, rushed 54 times for 391 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He also picked off three passes and made 23 tackles from his safety spot.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. The first day players can sign letters of intent is February first.
