Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander has been named the Big 12 Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year.
The Big 12 made the announcement Wednesday morning. In addition, Alexander was named the conference's Defensive Lineman of the Year.
He shares the defensive honor with Iowa State's A.J. Klein.
Alexander tied for the conference lead in sacks (8.5) and was tops in tackles for loss (18). He was also tied for third in fumbles forced (3).
He had his best game in the Red River Rivalry against Texas, making six tackles, four for losses of 30 yards, forced and recovered a fumble and recorded three sacks, a quarterback hurry and broke up a pass in the 55-17 win.
The senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana now has 20-and-a-half sacks and 43 tackles for losses in his OU career.
