Dallas, TX -

Quinn Sharp is continuing a tradition of great special teams at Oklahoma State.

The junior from Mansfield, Texas was named the Big 12 Conference Special Teams Player of the Year Wednesday. He's the third Cowboy to earn the award in the past four seasons. Dez Bryant won it in 2008 and Dan Bailey won last year.

Sharp was 20-of-23 on field goals and 74-of-75 on extra points from his kicker spot, including 2-of-3 on field goals from longer than 40 yards.

He was also the conference's leading punter, averaging 46-point-6 yards per punt. He fell one punt short of qualifying nationally, but his average would have been second best in the country.

On kickoffs, Sharp was the runaway leader in the country in the number of touchbacks, with 56. The second most was Arkansas' Zach Hocker with 36.

Only Auburn's Cody Parkey had a higher percentage of touchbacks.
