Memphis, TN -

An ESPN report claims former Union high, Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and current TCU offensive coordinator Justin Fuente will be introduced as the new head coach at Memphis.

Fuente has spent the past five seasons at TCU, first as running backs coach, then as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for the past three seasons.

As a high schooler, Fuente passed for more than 61-hundred yards and 65 touchdowns and signed with OU.

At Oklahoma, he redshirted as a freshman, then split time with Eric Moore as a redshirt freshman before becoming the starter in 1997.

In two seasons at OU, Fuente passed for 2,289 yards and ten touchdowns. He would transfer to Murray State and establish several single-season records.

His previous coaching experience was as quarterbacks coach and later offensive coordinator at Illinois State.

At Memphis, Fuente would replace Larry Porter, who was fired after two seasons and a 3-and-21 record.
