Gundy A Finalist For Bear Bryant Award

Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy is one of ten finalists for the 2011 Marathon Oil Corporation Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award.

It was a season of firsts for Gundy's Cowboys in 2011. Oklahoma State won 11 regular season games for the first time in program history, made a BCS bowl game for the first time and earned its first outright Big 12 Conference championship.

Gundy also picked up his first win against Oklahoma in a 44-10 rout on December third.

Third-ranked OSU will play No. 4 Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl on January second in Glendale, Arizona.

The other finalists for the award are Wisconsin's Bret Bielema, Baylor's Art Briles, Michigan's Brady Hoke, LSU's Les Miles, Alabama's Nick Saban, Stanford's David Shaw, Kansas State's Bill Snyder, Houston's Kevin Sumlin and Clemson's Dabo Swinney.

The winner will be announced January 19th in Houston, Texas.

Gundy is also a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award and Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award.

Gundy has already earned the American Football Coaches Association regional coach of the year.
