Posted: Updated:

The Oral Roberts men's basketball team picked up its biggest win of the season, traveling to Cincinnati and upsetting eighth-ranked Xavier 64-42 and handing the Musketeers their first loss of the season.

ORU (8-4) used a 12-0 run in the first half to lead 16-7 on Warren Niles' 3-pointer with 12:11 on the clock. Later, a 10-0 run pushed the advantage to 31-14 and the Golden Eagles would lead by 17 at the half.

The lead would grow to as many as 30 points in the second half as Oral Roberts held the Musketeers to just one three-pointer the entire game on eleven attempts. Xavier (8-1) shot just 32-point-7 percent overall and turned the ball over 17 times to just nine for ORU.

Dominique Morrison led the way for Oral Roberts with 19 points, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Niles added 15 points and Steven Roundtree had 12 off the bench.

Travis Taylor led Xavier with 11 points.

The win is the second over a top-ten team in the past five years. In 2006, the Golden Eagles upset third-ranked Kansas.

Oral Roberts returns home for Thursday night's contest against Texas Tech at 7:05 p.m.
