Posted: Updated:

The Oklahoma City Thunder prepared for the upcoming season with a 106-92 exhibition victory over the defending champion Dallas Mavericks Sunday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The Thunder ripped off 11 straight points over a three-minute span in the second quarter to take a double digit lead and were up by as many as 16 before the Mavs pulled within seven, 58-51 at halftime.

Oklahoma City's lead grew to 23 points late in the third quarter, but Dallas got back into the game with a 17-0 spurt, pulling with 90-84 on Rodrigue Beaubois' lay-up with 8:35 remaining.

The lead dwindled to five points, but no closer as Oklahoma City scored five straight to push it back to double digits.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 21 points while James Harden added 16. Russell Westbrook and Daequan Cook each scored 12.

Beaubois and Dominique Jones scored 17 each to lead the Mavericks, who were playing without Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki. Newly acquired Lamar Odom scored 14 points.

The two teams will play another exhibition game Tuesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. It will be the final tune up for the season opener, which will be Christmas night against the Orlando Magic.
