Mike Gundy Talks Contract

Posted: Updated:

OSU Head Coach Mike Gundy is looking for a new contract from Oklahoma State, after a record-setting 2011 season.

After winning 11 games last year, he guided his team to an 11-1 record again this season as they head into the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2 against Stanford.  And don't forget the second-straight win at Texas... beating Oklahoma for the first time in six years... and winning OSU's first-ever Big 12 Championship.

Gundy still has four years left on a seven year, $15.7 million contract signed in 2009.  That deal is paying him $2.1 million per year - not a bad salary by any stretch.

After saying he didn't feel comfortable talking about his contract situation at Monday's press conference, he did open up about the process, saying he is "optimistic" things can get done soon.

They better, for OSU's sake.  There'd be nothing worse than to have a giant elephant in the room as the 'Pokes prepare for its first-ever BCS Bowl game.
