Durant Shines In Thunder Win

Posted: Updated:

Finally, NBA regular season action returned to Oklahoma City, as the Thunder defeated the Orlando Magic 97-89 inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.

OKC star Kevin Durant picked up right where he left off last season.  The NBA's back-to-back scoring champion lead the way for the Thunder, scoring 30 points.  He also dished out six assists and grabbed five rebounds.

The Thunder put the game away in the second quarter, outscoring the Magic 28-19 to take a 55-41 lead into halftime. Despite KD's offensive onslaught, you could argue that center Kendrick Perkins was the MVP of the game.  Perk held Orlando star Dwight Howard to just 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

James Harden had a solid game off the bench for OKC as well, scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds.

With the condensed NBA schedule this season, the Thunder play four more times this week: Monday @ Minnesota (7 p.m.), Wednesday @ Memphis (7 p.m.), Thursday vs. Dallas (7 p.m.), and Saturday vs. Phoenix (7 p.m.).
