OU Holds First Practice In Arizona

Posted: Updated:

No. 19 Oklahoma (9-3) arrived in the Phoenix area late last night, and held its first practice in Arizona early Monday morning.

The Sooners are preparing for Friday's Insight Bowl match-up with the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-5).  Iowa will be more one-dimensional than normal, with star RB Marcus Coker out of the game.  Coker rushed for 1384 yards and 15 touchdowns this season for the Hawkeyes.

That means the OU defense can focus on stopping QB James Vandenberg and WR Marvin McNutt, who connected for 12 scores this season.

For the Sooners, they will be without WR's Ryan Broyles and Jaz Reynolds (injury), and RB's Dominique Whaley & Brandon Williams (injury, transfer) on the offensive side of the ball.  On defense, Ronnell Lewis will not see the field.

OU and Iowa kick off at 9 p.m. on Friday night.
