ORU Men Win 9th Straight, 81-71

Posted: Updated:

A late 15-0 run helped Oral Roberts distance themselves from IUPUI for an 81-71 victory Saturday night.  With the win, ORU improves to 16-4 on the season with an 8-0 mark in the Summit League.

Warren Niles led ORU with a season-high 23 points, including a career-high 10-11 from the free throw line. Michael Craion and Damen Bell-Holter each had 18 points, with Craion recording a game-high 10 rebounds for his 11th career double-double. Dominique Morrison's streak of seven consecutive games with at least 20 points came to an end, but the senior scored 12 points to make it 12 games in a row in double figures.

Preseason Summit League Player of the Year Alex Young had a game high 27 points for IUPUI, while Ian Chiles had 10 points.

"To be honest we didn't play well the first 30 minutes or so, especially our defense. I thought the last six or seven minutes we played like a championship team," said Coach Scott Sutton. "It was a hard-fought win for sure. IUPUI battled, you could tell their backs were against the wall and they needed to win desperately. We are happy to get out of here with a win and be 8-0 in the conference."

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Jan. 19, hosting IPFW at 7:05 p.m. inside the Mabee Center.
