Former TU Center Jordan's Global Basketball Journey

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY -- He only played the final 3:36 of Saturday night's loss to the Thunder, which is actually 3:36 more than Knicks center and former TU star Jerome Jordan had seen in 4 out of the 5 games before that night.

While Jordan scored 4 points in 2 of 3 shooting in that short time, the patient Jamaican says, " I just work with the system and what the coaches want. And just wait for my time. It's all patience. Whenever the time comes and they call my name, I'll be ready."

Saturday was the first time Jordan played in the state of Oklahoma since his final games at Tulsa in 2010.

New York City is the sixth stop for the Kingston, Jamaica native who attended boarding school at Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Florida.

After playing four years at TU, Jordan was drafted 44th overall by Milwaukee in the 2010 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Knicks a few weeks.

Like many NBA draftees, Jordan spent his first season as a professional by playing overseas. In his case, it was a year in Serbia.

Jordan was ready to get his start his NBA career going in 2011. But with the lockout, he ended up playing in Slovenia.

"I thought I was going to come to the Knicks and help out," Jordan explained.

"But because of the lockout, we had to go over there and keep getting better. Make sure we stay in shape, stuff like that."

With more games crammed into a shorter amount of time because of the NBA lockout, only time will tell how much Jordan's conditioning will help.
