Suspects In Tecumseh Couple's Murder Plead Guilty

Albuquerque, NM -

An escaped Arizona inmate and his alleged accomplice in the kidnapping and murders of a Tecumseh couple two years ago have changed their plea from not guilty to guilty.

Tracy Province and Casslyn Welch had pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and kidnapping in the August 4, 2010 killings of Linda and Gary Haas. But, under a deal, they changed their pleas to guilty on a charge of carjacking resulting in death.

Province will serve five life in prison terms to run consecutively while Welch will serve two life in prison sentences.

Linda and Gary Haas were vacationing in New Mexico when their pickup was hijacked between Santa Rosa and Tucumcari, allegedly by Province, Welch and Welch's boyfriend, John Charles McCluskey.

Investigators say Welch helped Province, McCluskey and a third inmate escape from an Arizona prison.

Police believe McCluskey is the person who pulled the trigger and prosecutors are considering seeking the federal death penalty in his case.
