Norman -
Former Oklahoma tight end Austin Haywood has chosen to enroll at the University of Central Arkansas to continue his football career, the Norman Transcript reports.
The move to a Football Championship Subdivision school means the junior-to-be won't have to sit out an entire season. He'll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Haywood played in 17 games for the Sooners, including six in 2011. He caught six passes for 42 yards as a back-up before deciding to leave the team six games into the season.
He was one of the top prospects in the state of Oklahoma out of Southmoore High School, where he scored 20 touchdowns as a senior.
Central Arkansas is coached by Clint Conque. The Bears went 9-and-4 and made their first-ever playoff appearance, defeating Tennessee Tech in the first round before falling to Montana in the second round.
