Channel 8 Chief Meteorologist Frank Mitchell welcomed a special visitor to the StormCenter on Friday.

5 year old Ryder Herring stopped by to donate four of his old baby blankets to Frank's Spread The Warmth Campaign.

Ryder was diagnosed with brain cancer last May.

After aggressive treatment over several months, his family reports his last MRI was cancer-free.

Ryder says he has always been interested in weather and was excited to see the computers and equipment Frank uses to put the forecast together.

Channel 8 is working to collect more than 3,000 blankets through the Spread The Warmth Campaign.

  It runs through January 31st.

You can donate any new or gently used blanket  at any LaMode Cleaners.
