MANHATTAN, Kan. -- In the arena where a banner in the rafters reads his name, Lon Kruger's Sooners did what his team already accomplished once this season: Beat a ranked Kansas State squad.
But the first time it was in Norman. Oklahoma repeated their feat Saturday evening 63-60. The #22 Wildcats had a chance to tie the game, trailing 63-60 with 5.0 seconds remaining.
Guard Rodney McGruder was able to fire off a final shot before time expired. It banged off the back of the rim.
It was a solid night for guard Steven Pledger. He led all scoring with 30 points, including 18 in the first half.
One of the more notable shots came in the final seconds of the first half when Pledger knocked down a fall away 3-pointer just before the buzzer.
The Sooners improve to 3-5 in the Big 12 and 13-7 overall.
