Sooners Grab Another Tight End Prospect

When the 2011-12 season ended, the Oklahoma Sooners had an issue -- too few tight ends. That's not going to be a problem now.

Sam Grant, a three-star tight end prospect from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio, provided the Sooners with their fourth commitment at the position.

Grant, a 6-6, 235-pounder, also has offers from a dozen other schools, including Arkansas, Boston College, Michigan, Indiana and Louisville. Grant had previously committed to Boston College over the summer, but decommitted over the weekend.

Oklahoma lost four tight ends from its roster with the graduations of James Hanna and Trent Ratterree as well as the decision of Austin Haywood to transfer and the loss of Max Stevenson to a career-ending injury.

Other tight ends that have given their commitment to the Sooners include three-star Laith Harlow from Tallahassee, Florida, junior college transfer Brannon Green, a three-star prospect from Fort Scott Community College, and Taylor McNamara, a three-star from San Diego who has already arrived on campus in Norman.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. The first day players can sign letters of intent is Wednesday.
