Unemployment Rises In 57 of Oklahoma's 77 Counties

The latest employment figures show that unemployment claims increased in 57 of Oklahoma's 77 counties in December.

In Tulsa County, the unemployment rate rose one-tenth of a percent to 6-point-4 percent. The areas hardest hit in December appeared to be in eastern and southeastern Oklahoma.

McCurtain and Hughes counties each saw their unemployment rates jump nine-tenths of a percent. Meanwhile, Adair, Sequoyah and LeFlore counties which border Arkansas all saw an eight-tenths of a percent increase.

Only eight counties saw their unemployment rates decline -- Alfalfa (0.1%), Beaver (0.2%), Beckham (0.1%), Dewey (0.1%), Grady (0.1%), Greer (0.1%), Johnston (0.1%) and McLain (0.1%).
