Local Business Helps Replace Catoosa K9 Cop

Posted: Updated:

A silver lining for Catoosa officers  mourning the loss of their K9 police dog.

We're told Karo got sick from a fungus he ingested.

He was on the force only nine months but took part in 15 drug busts.

His handler says it's like losing a member of his family.

Now, a local business has stepped-up to help replace their dog.

Melton Truck Lines has agreed to invest the $4,500 for the purchase of the new K-9.

"We were sad to learn of Karo's passing," said Bob Peterson, president of Melton Truck Lines. "A K-9 becomes a part of the police family, so our hearts go out to the officers. Melton will sponsor a replacement, although there's no real replacement for Karo."

"From a community service standpoint, it makes sense for Melton to help Catoosa make that important public safety resource available," Peterson stated, "But from a business standpoint, it benefits us as well. Our employees are safer and our Tulsa-Catoosa facility has more support."
