Tulsa -
Run into your closets and pick out something red today. No, it's not an early Valentine's Day dress-up -- it's part of the Go Red Campaign that supports heart health for women.
The local and national effort hopes to get people to wear red to work and call attention to the deadly disease, and what you can do to fight the risks.
Here's why it is so important -- heart disease is the nation's number one killer.
According to the American Heart Association-Tulsa, nearly 35 percent of Tulsa area deaths each year are attributed to cardiovascular disease.
Events are scheduled all year long, with a Heart Ball at the Tulsa Expo Center on Saturday, Feb. 4th.
The Tulsa Heart Walk is April 21st at the ONEOK Field and the goal is to raise $750,000 for research, education and support.
