On the same day Facebook went public, Tulsa-based MacroSolve also went public with a patent infringement lawsuit against the social media giant.

MacroSolve says Facebook violated its U.S. Patent No. 7,822,816, which it was given by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in October 2010.

MacroSolve says Facebook -- directly or through intermediaries -- made, used, imported, provided, supplied, distributed, sold and/or offered for sale products and/or systems that infringe on the patent.

MacroSolve says its patent covers fundamental technology in the mobile application space utilized by multiple companies. In fact, Facebook is just the latest company MacroSolve has filed suit against.

Among 45 others are American Airlines, Avis Rent A Car System, Continental Airlines, The Hertz Corporation, Hipmunk, Hotels.com, Priceline.com, Southwest Airlines, Travelocity and United Air Lines.

MacroSolve Vice Chairman Jim McGill has previously said many of its lawsuits have been settled over the past nine months.
