Homicide May Be Linked to Armed Robbery

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa's third homicide took the life of a 24 year old man and could be linked to an armed robbery in the same area.

Tulsa police say the victim of Tulsa's third homicide was Byron James Ivory.

As of Saturday around 6 PM, police say they've located two additional witnesses that both say the motive for the murder is robbery.

The victim was found shot next to his car in the parking lot near 1800 South Baltimore Avenue. Police arrived just before 2 AM Saturday morning.

Tulsa homicide detectives are still searching for a motive for the murder and anyone who witnessed the shooting.

Police are wondering if an armed robbery in the same area is related to the homicide. Just prior to the shooting an armed robbery occurred at a club near 1800 South Baltimore Avenue.

Sergeant Dave Walker with the Tulsa Homicide Division says a victim was lured into an alley behind the club and was robbed. A few of the suspects fled in a silver Ford Fusion with temporary plates. Another suspect in the armed robbery fled on foot in the direction of the shooting. This suspect is described as a black male, 5'9" to 5'11", 160-180 pounds with dreads to his shoulders. At the time he was wearing a white tee shirt and dark jeans.

According to police this suspect was carrying a semi-automatic handgun during the armed robbery.

Again, police are still investigating both incidents and determining whether the two are related.
