Tahlequah -

Troopers believe alcohol is to blame for a crash that injured two people Saturday evening in Cherokee County.

It happened at about 6:30 p.m. about seven miles west of Tahlequah. Troopers say a pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Cody Bechtol of Muskogee was southbound on Manard Road when Bechtol ran off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole, then a fence.

Bechtol was treated and released at Muskogee Regional Hospital. A passenger in the truck was airlifted to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa with leg and internal injuries and was said to be in good condition.

A second passenger was not injured.

Troopers say Bechtol was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
